Daily cuteness

Andrea has a new obsession with eye color. Multiple times a day, she goes through this same basic conversation with me (although she rarely stops talking long enough for me to say anything)… “What color are you eyes? (pause) They are blue! What color are MY eyes? (gently pokes herself in the eye) They are blue too! You eyes are blue too! We have blue eyes! Me too! I show Daddy my blue eyes!”

She is also drinking out of open cups now and so asks several times a day for “cup without a lid” or a “cup with a straw”. Sippy cups are old news — now they are only acceptable to her when she’s going to sleep or when we’re away from home.

And we are working on potty training. Still not having much luck, but we are finally making some progress. She used to cry and say, “I don’t like my potty!” whether we tried her potty seat or the little ring on the toilet. But I bought an Elmo potty training book set the other day and even though I don’t think it’s very good as a potty training book, she seems to love it. She asks to read “Elmo potty book” all the time, and she’s been sitting on her potty for 15 or 20 minutes at a time without crying. She’s still never actually done anything on the potty, but it’s a start.

Prunes!

I know I haven’t updated in a while, and I need to add some older stuff, but I had a quick video to share…

Andrea has been sort of hot-and-cold about solids, but I started to notice that she is more excited about eating when she gets prunes. We’ve been doing baby food prune puree, but we’ve also been trying to let her try finger food sometimes, so today I bought some regular prunes at the store to see what Andrea would think of them. Her reaction was so funny that I had to share a bit of the video…

She took the prune from me after this and gummed on it for a little while before she decided she was done.

The other finger foods we’ve tried are avocado, sweet potatoes, and pears. She has trouble holding the avocado and sweet potatoes, because they are too slippery/mushy, but she seems to enjoy chewing on pear slices and now prunes. LOL

Before she was born…

When I was pregnant, little Andrea moved around a lot. So much that we would just sit and watch her sometimes. I found it really hard to sit at a desk and get work done when was really active (which was often most of the day).

So at 8 months pregnant, we took some video to share with long distance family and also to document just how wild she was for posterity’s sake. I thought I’d post the video here to share with anyone who’s interested…
