* According the hospital, she was 20 1/4 inches long, but she looks long and slender. The pediatrician’s office measured her at 22 inches long only a few days after she was born, so we think that may be more accurate! Her fingers and toes are quite long too, so we think she’ll be tall like her mom.

Mom wrote up my birth story below for those who are interested.

Early on April 13th, I woke up with regular contractions that made it uncomfortable to lay down. By 7am, they were coming every few minutes. By 10am, we started tracking them more carefully, and they were coming every 3 minutes and lasting a minute each. I was comfortable and wanted to stay at home as long as possible, so I just used the breathing and relaxation techniques I learned in Hypnobirthing to stay calm through the contractions. Eventually, I got in the tub and relaxed more there. After the bath, Paul and I decided to call our doula (labor coach), Renee, and ask her to come over. She got to the house around noon and helped Kelley through contractions for a while by giving some counter-pressure on her lower back. After about an hour, we decided to go the hospital so we gathered our things and drove down the street to the hospital, and checked in around 1:30pm.

At the hospital, things moved pretty quickly. We first went to the triage room, where they got some medical history and checked vitals and monitored contractions and the baby’s heartbeat. The midwife came in and checked me, and found out I was already dilated 8-9cm! She asked for my birth plan and rushed out of the room to arrange for a delivery room. They wheeled me to the delivery room about 2:30pm, and Kelley sat on the edge of the bed for a while until it was time to push. After about 30 minutes of pushing, Andrea arrived safely at 3:43pm. Dad cut the cord and Andrea was checked by the nurses. She was so alert and looked around with our big blue eyes. Mom and Dad were both so happy to see and hold our new baby!
